Food & drink
A wide choice of international cuisine is available in Birmingham. Most famous
of all is the area in the city known as the ‘Balti Triangle’. This
delicacy (a uniquely spiced curry served in an iron pot) originated on the Indian
sub-continent and was perfected by chefs in Birmingham. It is a place to enjoy
a memorable meal at good value for money.
Shopping
Birmingham is full of glamorous shops, modern malls, and high street stores.
The Bullring in the heart of the city with 140 shops and 2 department stores
(including the architecturally stunning Selfridges) is a shoppers’ paradise
and you may not choose where to start first !
Music & night life
There is a large number of clubs and bars in the city centre, mainly along Broad
Street and into Brindleyplace which has now become the city's centre for nighttime
entertainment. Outside Broad Street area, The Medicine Bar in the Custard Factory,
The Sanctuary, Rainbow Pub and Air in Digbeth are very popular.
Many bars and club nights exist in areas such as the Arcadian and Hurst Street
by China Town, Summer Row, The Mailbox, and St Philips/Colmore Row and Jewellery
Quarter and a number of late night pubs, are found in the Irish Quarter.
You can discover the delights of Birmingham at the Jewellery Quarter and St
Paul’s Square, where you’ll find great live music.
